3rd CISCE kicks off, enthusiastic participation ‘vote of confidence’ in China’s economic devt

The third China International Supply Chain Expo (CISCE) kicked off on Wednesday in Beijing, gathering more than 600 exhibitors from over 70 countries and regions. Participants and analysts said this demonstrates the global community's common aspiration to maintain the stability and smoothness of industrial and supply chains, meanwhile, the enthusiastic participation is also a vote of confidence in China's economic development.
Hosting this kind of international expo also reflects China's commitment to maintaining the global supply chain stability in a complex international environment, analysts said.
Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng said on Wednesday that China will adhere to the principles of division of labor and cooperation, openness and inclusiveness, while acting as a promoter of mutual benefits and win-win outcomes in global industrial and supply chains, according to Xinhua News Agency.
He, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, made the remarks in a speech at the opening ceremony of the third CISCE in Beijing.
China is a crucial link in global industrial and supply chains and has consistently taken practical actions to ensure the stable operation of global industrial and supply chains, contributing to deepening global industrial and supply chain cooperation and promoting world economic recovery, the vice premier said.
At the opening ceremony, Ren Hongbin, Chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), the organizer of CISCE, welcomed global business leaders to uphold the WTO-centered global trade system through joint efforts and constructive actions.
The third China International Supply Chain Expo Beijing Initiative was launched at the opening ceremony, calling for safeguarding the security and stability of global industrial and supply chains, adhering to innovation-driven development, accelerating the development of digital-intelligent supply chains, building a green sustainable supply chain and deepening cooperation within the global business community.
"We warmly welcome more businesses from various countries to join our initiative, take concrete actions to deepen international cooperation in industrial and supply chains and jointly promote stronger, greener and healthier global development," said Ren.
Seeing opportunities
CISCE participants, especially multinationals, highlighted the importance of cooperation to maintain the sustainability, security and smoothness of global supply chains, while expressing strong confidence in China's market potential. Many of the multinationals are also accelerating their localization in China.
Leveraging the CISCE as a key platform connecting the globe and serving China, GE HealthCare highlights its latest progress in green supply chain development this year, the company said in a statement sent to the Global Times.
From building and strengthening domestic supply chains to extending them, GE HealthCare has advanced full localization, with now over 50 percent of its China-market products developed locally. With an annual domestic procurement of nearly 10 billion yuan ($1.4 billion), the company helped drive growth across four major industrial clusters in China alongside more than 1,000 supply chain partners.
Tesla, a third-time CISCE participant, has also benefited from its localized supply chain in China.
As of June 2025, Tesla has delivered over 8 million electric vehicles globally, with the Shanghai Gigafactory contributing nearly half of the output. As Tesla's global export hub, the Shanghai Gigafactory has an annual capacity exceeding 950,000 vehicles, with over 95 percent of parts locally sourced and more than 400 local tier-1 suppliers, over 60 of which are integrated into Tesla's global supply chain, Tesla China said in a statement sent to the Global Times on Wednesday.
Producing a vehicle every 30 seconds, the Shanghai factory leads in efficiency among Tesla's factories worldwide, showcasing the synergy of "Shanghai Speed" and "Made in China" excellence, said Tesla China.
As a key initiative to promote resilient, efficient, and inclusive global industrial and supply chains, the CISCE is an excellent platform to showcase best practices in industrial collaboration and to expand cooperation across the value chain, Rio Tinto said in a statement sent to the Global Times on Wednesday. It is the company's third time participating in the CISCE.
Apart from multinationals, CISCE also plays a crucial role for small- and medium-sized enterprises to develop supply chain partners.
Aleksa Obradovic, product manager of Belgrade-based Aledjo CNC Machining, a family company, told the Global Times that "the CISCE is helpful for them to find new partners, not only Chinese partners."
This is the company's first participation in the CISCE, but expectations are high, said Obradovic.
According to CCPIT, 651 enterprises and institutions from 75 countries and regions participated in the third CISCE. The proportion of overseas exhibitors rose to 35 percent compared with 32 percent last year. Together with over 500 partners from the upstream and downstream of the industrial chain brought by the exhibitors, the actual number of exhibitors reached 1,200.
"At the third CISCE, the participation and exhibition of all parties exceeded expectations. This is a vote of confidence cast by the global business community for the expo, and it is also a vote of confidence in China's economic development," Li Yuan, vice director of the Department of International Investment Research at the Academy of CCPIT, told the Global Times on Wednesday.
China's commitment
Amid the headwinds facing economic globalization and disruptions to global supply chains, hosting the CISCE reflects China's commitment as a major power to ensuring stable and smooth supply chains. The enthusiastic response and active participation in the three CISCE editions demonstrate the global business community's shared aspiration and proactive efforts to maintain supply chain stability, analysts said.
Jurgen Ritter, Managing Director and Team Leader of Sino-Germany Agricultural Centre, told the Global Times on Wednesday that countries need to get their act together to respond to uncertainties, because they rely upon each other.
"They need to see that there is competition. But in the end, we are all in the same world. The world needs to stand together in order to survive," said Ritter.
"As the landscape of the global industrial chain evolves, building a supply chain system that is more low-carbon, resilient, and inclusive has become essential. China, as a major engine of global manufacturing and a key force driving the low-carbon transition, will play a crucial role in this process," said Rio Tinto.
The CISCE is a major platform for companies from all countries to enhance resource sharing and technology interconnection, and also a new signature event of China's high-standard opening up, Lin Jian, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said on Wednesday at a regular press briefing.
"Looking forward, the trend of deeply integrated global industrial and supply chains and interdependence between companies around the world is unstoppable. China will continue working with all sides to keep global industrial and supply chains stable and unimpeded and build an open world economy," said Lin.
